True, but offensive and all-out offensive are two different things. You can't get plain suicidal, you know. :p
It's more a case of knowing where and when to strike, and taking key points of the map, such as factories, chokepoints, and taking out dangerous enemies such as an Anti Air threatening your air squadron, or rockets being able to decimate your infantry and tanks. Too many times in Advance Wars have I been too offensive and thus lost valuable units from acting rashly.
Also, take into consideration it's being cautious and defensive that really highlights the 'strategy' of a game. While I understand where you're coming from, I don't really consider being on a full-out offensive 'strategy' xD
Fair enough. I do however like Advance Wars for that exact fact - In Fire Emblem you're forced to be cautious and defensive, at the risk of your characters dying permanently.
Advance Wars is very different in that aspect. Playing Advance Wars in a Fire Emblem style will result in you losing. You have to remain offensive, because otherwise the enemy will overrun and annihilate you. I like it for that.
Still, I do see where you're coming from, so fair enough.

Fire Emblem always has, and always will pwn Advanced Wars :D
You develop a kind of attachment to the characters of Fire Emblem. And so when they die , you get upset, and frustrated. Advance Wars... not so much.
