The independently released 45, "Dangerous Eyes" by Sam The Band, written by Jack Lesley and Ernie White, produced by Ian Hunter from 1980.
Jack Lesley - keyboards/lead vocal, Ernie White - guitar, Bernie Dippolito - percussion, Dennis Carmella - drums, George Evers - bass.

This used to get a lot of airplay on WDHA FM where listeners voted them "Best Original Band in New Jersey" in 1980.
They were also voted "Best original Band in New Jersey" in the Aquarian Weekly Readers Poll for 1980.

  • Dodd's, Creations, Chatterbox, Arrow Lounge, Zaffy's. Them were da days! Very talented band. They did originals but I think the majority of fans came out to see their humorous take on their cover stuff. I remeber me and my g/f at the time would slow dance to Scarlet Fever, a highlight of the show. Bernie doing his Spaceman schtick and of course "Slippin' Into Darkness" cover tune by War. Sam also had a unique light show with lazers, movies, flashpots, unlike any other Jersey band at the time.

  • In my opinion Sam the Band was at its best before they got all rock & roll serious. When they just played and had fun with the crowd, and did all their comedy routine stuff. Wish I had all that recorded. Great times at Dodds thru '78.

  • Ditto

  • Dodds, Thursdays in 1979. Doesn't seem that long ago!
