This is video of an online game session of "Twisted Metal: Black Online", played with a LAN Tunneling program called Xlink Kai ( http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ ) on [12/11/09].
This is only the third or fourth time I have played this game. I have not played the single player game yet. This game is very fun online and I have not experienced many other games like this.
As much as I enjoy the
game, the controls bother me. The ideal setup seems to be to use the Dpad for car movement, but my hands cramp up in a matter of minutes using that. Otherwise you are forced to use the left analog stick for steering and the right analog stick for acceleration and reverse, which makes it feel like you don't have control of the car.
The problem could be solved if you could use the left analog stick for steering and 2 face buttons for acceleration and reversing, but that is not allowed. The circle button is for gas, but the the face button they assign for brake is only a brake and does not let you go in reverse (an important part of the gameplay). There are 2 other preset controller configurations, but they still do not solve the problem. You cannot customize the controls, so if you have big hands like me this fact slightly ruins an otherwise amazing game.
This multiplayer game of Twisted Metal: Black Online was played with a program called Xlink Kai ( http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ ) .It lets you play PS2 games online even once their online servers are taken down. This means that Playstation 2 games can be played online forever. The catch is it only works with games with a LAN mode. This is because the program uses a game's LAN to trick the game into thinking players across the world are playing on its Local Area Network (LAN).
**Important For Xlink PS2**
You need version 7.3.1.7 to play PS2 games online with Xlink Kai. Newever versions of the program do not work with PS2. This version can be found on the homepage of Xlink Kai (linked above) by scrolling down to see the news article about its release called "FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kai Updated to 7.3.1.7". Or you can click here to directly download it if you are comfortable doing so

@canadiens5 All Xlink Kai does is take your game's LAN mode and trick it into thinking people across the internet are on your Local Area Network (LAN). To make it work you need to port forward port 30000 to your PC.

@vietkid977 You talking about Xlink Kai? I think you must mean if the arena mode of xlink kai it shows question marks for the player counts? That is a known bug. IT doesnt affect you playing the game. That error happens randomly depending on what server you get connected to.
