I discovered (for myself, I mean) the music of John McLaughlin when I read Ginger Baker's (born in Lewisham, London) autobiography "Hellraiser". I have two boys 10yo & 6yo who both want to play the drums. Of course, Billy Cobham plays for the Mahavishnu Orchestra too!!

Reminds me of Tom Scott and the L.A. Express

Michael Walden and Ralph Armstrong are so powerful rhythmically. And you have Jean-Luc and John McGlaughlin..Holy shit ..YOu are in the presence of real greatness here!!!!!

and by the way, this is great i just cant sit still when watching this. i saw john with 4th dimension and couldnt sleep for a few day, but i will always yearn for mahavishnu

Umm, I love Page, but his main teacher was John Mclaughlin, he was his teacher as a child into his teens, ask pagey what he thinks, he bows at the feet of ol John, both are guitar gods, just personal taste...for chops and going to Mars, it';s John, for those riffs of god, the world's best band ever, incredibly soulful playing and a really underrated producer ( Page was unreal in the studio), and props to billy and mw, but he found BONHAM...yeeesh, maybe Pagey wins...both insane in good way

they are two different bands.but frankly both lineups give me a headache at how awesome they are!
