thanks for the interesting comments! there seem to be a lot of folks that think old white guys sit around in some back room and plan the demise of us all...not sure if I'll buy that but there could be some metaphorical stretch there...the bailouts were opposed and we will see, I thought they were not going to work...I'll lay most of the blame on the government/banking/political cabal but reserve some blame for us for being so stupid and not knowing better...maybe now we'll be fed up enough?

actually all are being hit but the worst are autobody, restaurants, auto repair, bookkeepers, high end retail, upscale bars and new doctors, dentists and lawyers. Thanks for the comment and compliment!

What type of businesses are being hit hardest in your opinion based on what you've seen? Keep up the good work btw
Im about 60 miles east of watsonville. Things are business as usual around here and we were hit the hardest by the housing bubble in the country. I think we got a long ways to go before total collapse.

you have a nasty bubble for sure...I actually don't think it will come total collapse but just how close is up in the air...they are talking about 25% unemployment in Watsonville, which is just about collapsed...thanks for the note!

Our county and the neighboring are hovering around the 20 percent unemployment. However, believe it or not its not the all time high. The worst was in the early 90's when the two counties in my area were 19.7 and almost 22 percent unemployment.
I read many moved out of the central valley after the bubble popped into the bay area which may explain why the bay area is getting record unemployment while central valley is lagging.

seems the small, rural California towns have been hit the hardest probably from lack of economic activity/dyanmics/ base. Not sure if the exodus is to the Bay Area or out of California...the popped bubble has hit many very hard...great comments and thanks!

I am from England and just sat through a T.V. advert with Arnie and a few other celebs talking about how great it is working and living in California. Same advert has been running for months and must have cost the state a small fortune. Always seems an odd thing spending money like this when you can come on Youtube and see tent cities, state employees being laid off etc.

great comment, sorry for my tardy reply...and yesterday the voters of California rejected a state "bailout" plan; looks like they money for those videos might be cut as well...unfortunately the situation in California will get much worse and we voters and State Government are much to blame...saw where one of your guys had to resign for buying a chandalier for his palace...that's class, we corrupt political Americans just sign lucrative book deals and go on slimy TV shows...ha...
