In a few basic steps, we will show you how to import a 3D object and view it in Miner Wars:

1) Go to your Miner Wars directory (e.g. C:/Program Files/Keen Software House/MinerWars/)
2) Go to /Content/Models2/Prefabs/Custom/
3) Here you can see SimpleObject.fbx -- you can open and edit this file in your 3D software (3D Studio Max, Maya, Blender...).
4) Try doing some changes to it and save it under the same path and filename.
5) Go to ./Content/Convertor/ and run MinerWarsConverter.bat -- this creates SimpleObject.mwm out of the edited SimpleObject.fbx
6) Run Miner Wars. You can see the object in game once you add it through the in-game editor. Run the game in any mode (ie. Storymode).
7) Press „0" to open in-game editor panel with objects.
8) On the bottom of the panel, click on Custom -- Other.
9) Drag your object into the scene to make it appear in-game.

That's all! You can try modifying the object again to see the changes. If you want to make more complex changes, change other objects (make your own ships etc.), see the advanced tutorials and descriptions.

Note: If your 3D editor doesn't support FBX file extension, try to google for add-ons supporting this format or use free FBX Converter.

To share your model with the community and our team, upload it to our forum: http://www.minerwars.com/ForumCategor.... Include a screenshot + textures + the model itself.

Most of asteroids in Miner Wars are made from voxels, those are not 3D models.

But there are some "static" asteroid - and yes, you can make your own and import it into the game.

Does this mean the object i've imported can have it's properties changed so i can destroy it like an asteroid? Or have it as my ship? Or is that not what this is for yet?
