The Japanese Club of McCutcheon High School and Harrison High School are performing the Gilbert and Sullivan Comic Opera, The Mikado, which had a successful run at the Long Center Theater in Lafayette last October 10th and 11th of 2008
On the nights of Friday and Saturday - January 23rd and 24th, The Mikado will be performed at the Harrison High School Auditorium with cast members coming from both Harrison and McCutcheon, as well as from local and distant communities.
The production is lavish, with a good deal of time spent in collecting authentic costumes from Japan for all of the characters. The colorful silk kimono will be used in non-traditional fashion, to heighten the comic effect of the words and music written by William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan 123 years ago when the Mikado premiered in London in 1885.
Treat yourself, and drag a friend, to the musical comedy Mikado at Harrison High School Auditorium. This highly acclaimed musical comedy written by the team of Gilbert and Sullivan as performed by local semi-professional singing actors is back, back, back in Lafayette for two performances at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd and 24th 2009. Tickets are $5.00 to see the comedy about life, love, deceit and self-decapitation in ancient Japan.
Why you will even have the opportunity to meet the emperor. If you miss your chance ... he will just scream. Thank you.
Awesome! ;)
