basic midi sends out a signal all the time either it is note on or note off
the working of the harp is simple jmj hands is changing the midi value using a laser and a detector.
the detectors is located over the harp and when jmj hands is obstructing the laser a new value(note on) is sent to a computer or synth and when he is removing his hand away from the lasers the value changes to note off
