She does it because she can. Caballe is more like a pop singer in the sense that she takes a lot of liberties with the music and expresses it her way, not necessarily Verdi's - in this she is truly a throwback to the divas of the 19th century - who can resist it?

no one ever arranged for a full studio recording with her in it. the record companies should be embarrassed.

thats really one of the best ever. there are some people on here though who claim to have been at that performance and other unrecorded ones that were even better. i really cant imagine a better one that the 1974 Orange one, but all i have to say is that those peopel are lucky bastards lol.
