  • Gerardopolos, you're right. "Sabra" is about the refugee camp, as the girl in the play calls herself after the camp where she grew up.

Interesting that the girl in the play is a Palestinian refugee living in Lebanon, while the actress who portrays that girl is herself a daughter of Palestinian refugees and has lived in Lebanon for many years....

The documentary examines the similarities between the real lives of the actors and those of the fictional characters they were chosen to portray...

  • zuppadi - I agree, Waltz with Bashir is indeed an excellent film.

  • I also saw Waltz with Bashir. Excellent!!!!

  • I just saw the trailer of the feature they'd made from "Abraham".

I wonder why they decided to adapt the play into a movie....

A lot of times that doesn't really work, so I hope they did a good job...

Interesting that the girl's name is Sabra. I guess it has to do with the refugee camp... weird because I just saw "Waltz with Bashir" the other day... small world...

  • The play has been staged a number of times in the USA with Amir and Maya in the leading roles. Recently, Karen - the playwright - has adapted her play into a screenplay and currently they are all trying to raise funds to produce the film.

Yuval Sussler and Yahel Herzog continue to follow them with their camera and document their attempts to "Get the message out there" . This is what the documentary is about.
