i have 2 live recordings of this by the Kingston Trio (besides the Hungry i recording) which were released on cassette. (def the Kingston trio, you can recognise John Stewart and Bob Shane's voices) both were like the Hungry i recording as neither of which had English. This recording is def NOT the Kingston Trio.
Sorry, but no. There are literally dozens of faked CDs out there with some version or other of the song attributed to the Kingston Trio that is not them. The honk1tonk1 video under related videos to the right is the only released version of the song by the KT. As kiwibridge notes right below, this is Karl Denver, released I believe in Germany.
I have an Ableton Live pack of acappellas with this exact song in it and the label on it says "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by "Kingston Trio". I was a bit skeptical, but now that I've seen it here my guess is that it is likely them.
This is definitely NOT the Kingston Trio, whose only recorded version from 1959's live album "...from the Hungry i" can be heard as the first video under "Related videos" to the right on this page, under the title "Kingston Trio - Wimoweh (Mbube) LIVE."
This is the Kingston Trio singing. The additional vocals and sounds are partly from the trio and partly from studio singers. The Tokens recorded the best know version of the song.
Offensichtlich wird bei JouTube zensiert! Mir ist das schon 2 mal passiert, dieses Mal wohl wieder!

Not a bad arrangement of "lion sleeps tonight', but not done by the Kingston Trio.

Not the Tokens or The Kingston Trio, even singing together! The recording techniques suggest that it's a comparatively recent recording.

It is the Kingston Trio singing with some backup/studio singers adding vocals and sounds. The Tokens recorded the best known version of the song.
