Just listening to my turbo with the wicked wheel installed... Actually the turbo puts out between 21-23 PSI now. And thats not towing. stock turbo with an aftermarket compressor wheel. same wheel as found on the stock turbo of pre 99.5 7.3's. but its an upgrade for the 99.5-2003.5 powerstrokes. quicker spool up, almost eliminates compressor surge, I've heard lower EGT's but im a little skeptical on that. and of course its louder!!

  • Sounds great man. I wish I knew more about diesel engines. Id love to get out of a gas engine once and for all but I'm a little intimidated by what people tell me about the high repair costs and such.

  • @valtierra2966 Thanks man. diesels are way better than gas. they hardly ever break (except for the 6.0). Better fuel economy, more torque, lasts 500,000+ miles with proper maintenance, just as much if not more aftermarket potential. after owning a diesel, im never going back to gas! but thats just me ha

  • hey i have a 2001 f350 7.3 turbo, but when i press the gas it doesnt open up the turbo, do you know what may be causing this,. many THANKS,

  • @cuban571 Honestly, I have no idea. If you had a variable geometry turbo I would just say the vains are stuck open. But you dont so I really dont have much to say. If it is idling correctly and everything else seems to be working fine. I would say its just a bad turbo. Because the expanding heat of the exhaust gas is what drives the turbo. Does anyone else have any ideas? If everything else is working correctly i would just say a seized turbo.

  • i love your truck. i have the same as you but a 2001. does the wicked wheel make it have more power? or does it just spool quiker?

  • @flyboykourt pretty much just spools a little quicker. I have seen dyno results here on youtube and it actually lost 1.5 horsepower. but this spools up quicker and its easier on the turbo so its not a big deal. and its not like we will notice 1.5 horsepower :)

  • my dads truck does 26psi on the stock turbo and wheel and its an 02

  • windows shut or open? lol

  • @cuban571

Your turbo is going out which is hard not to notice also check your intercooler boots. Fords blue boots suck! They rip and leak oil and air, which in turn would not allow your turbo to spool to full efficiency what so ever. Get aftermarket couplers from any diesel site you would like. After i replaced mine my turbo kicks in faster, lower egt's, better MPG, and less black smoke

  • @mk37mgteboy I have a gas('00 malibu) and i really want a diesel truck, cause even a 89 7.3 idi gets a bit lees gas milage than me. What more maintanance is there to do?

  • I like the ATS housing better and it completely eliminate compressor surge.

Oh, and get rid the K&N intake. It doesn't filter well enough for our motors. Get a Napa 6637 heavy duty truck filter instead (tymar-style).

  • @flyboykourt

The ATS housing or Wicked Wheel reduce or eliminate compressor surge, which is devastating to the life of a turbo especially on chipped trucks. It doesn't really affect power or mileage.

  • @cuban571

Check your wastegate. Do you have gauges? Is the check engine light on?
