I guess it's because they're both pretty brunette singers who are have an old fashioned style. I can see they're a bit similar in appearance, but in music I must agree that they're not remotely close. Zooey exhibits actual talent and skills, where as Katy is simply popular because she has fun songs. Zooey sings older songs, and breathes new life into them, with that loveable old fashioned flair that made them once so popular, the same can't possibly be said for Katy Perry.

Every single one of these videos of her singing, has some comparison to Katy Perry... I'm sorry, what's the similarity other than both being brunettes? They cannot be classed in the same category musically, She and Him do folk, country, standards, and rock and roll, Katy Perry does pop, and not very well in my opinion.
