This is where it all starts; The Major Scale.
Starting with one box pattern them moving on to an adjoining box pattern, I break it down and give you a chance to finally learn this all important mother of Scales.
This is my first in a multi part lesson. Stay with me and I'll try my best to get you set on this subject. all without burdening you with too much theory.

  • yeah I got it but how do I do what you do to the box pattern.

  • Hey man, ma io pensavo che i nomi DO-RE-MI-FA-SOL-LA-SI li usassimo SOLO NOI ITALIANI da voi non si dice C-D-E-F-G-A-B ???? ;-)

    Ottima lezione and good sound!!!

  • @willievega Now just try this; play a C major chord and then play the box patterns I showed you in the video.

See how nice it sounds? Now play an A minor chord, and then play the same box pattern.

It sounds great too, right? That's because of the Relative thing.

Keep up and practice those patterns so you'll be ready for the next one's.

  • @digismash Ok now, keep that in mind. You see, there's this thing called a 'Relative Minor'. What you have found here, is that the Cmajor scale shape is the same as the A minor, because A minor is the Relative minor of C.

So now when you learn all the 5 basic box patterns for C major, you'll know all of the one's for A minor!

Congrats of this breakthrough, it's just one of many coming!

Stick with me on this and you'll see.

  • @willievega oh man, the 2nd position is the same shape as minor so it threw me off its just the major in the next position, got it! lol derr

  • @digismash If you copy them down on paper you'll see how the two boxed patterns over lap. Then you can begin to go between the two. Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces fit together.

As far as playing it as a minor, hold off on that for now. We'll get to that later. Just memorize the patterns for now, as they were written (very important).

  • @willievega not yet still putting them both to memory

  • @digismash No, I mean the two box patterns that are in the video

  • @willievega the major to the minor? no not yet

  • @digismash Have you tried connecting the two patterns yet?
