I got into a disagreement with a girlfriend one time who thought I didn't give. She didn't realize that I was giving of my time and energy to her when she was actually draining. She thought she was doing me favors when I didn't have a car by driving me, but I actually never even asked. I was going with her places she wanted to go & I was offering my support because she was goin through a breakup. I didn't speak to her for a while after she blew up on me in front of 2 new guy friends.

Yeah, I've found that the people who put so much emphasis on "material as love" are miserly, dark people with tons of bad karma stuck to them. If the gift doesn't feel right, don't be afraid to say no... or throw it out!

Always good to see you Elsa! Some are generous w/material things while others with their time + energy. I tend to give the latter + also prefer the latter--people who have a generosity of spirit.
I find a lot of people who are overly generous with material items, act as if they are trying to buy love and affection. Such people oftentimes are unable to give of themselves.
It's great when you can find a signifant other who has both--but generosity of spirit if most important.
