After the major anomaly experienced by the DoubleSShot boiler plate static test motor last month of what was the largest sugar propellant motor ever fired, parts were looked at for clues as to what caused the 'mishap' and for salvaging for the next motor test. While the forward bulkhead was destroyed and the forward motor casing no longer useable, the mid bulkhead looked as though it could be used for the next static motor test, thus saving us valuable time and expense. The probelm was removing it from the damaged motor casing. Many methods were tried with no success. What should have been the most obvious, simply cutting away the damaged motor casing, was not tried until the very end. Both the steel nozzle and mid-bulkhead will now be refurbished with ablative for their use in the next static motor test.
