  • The Scottish techno band TTF used samples from the tall man in their song Exosphere.

  • oh those balls :D

  • i dont remember the tall man in this one

  • Cemeteries are never good signs in horror films.

  • @1:10 NO!!.. CHUCK TESTA!

  • @PureAgainBOF3 Finally:

    1) Le Gros was a better Mike.

    2) Baldwin is a right whiny bitch. In the commentaries he sulks and acts like a child whenever Le Gros or Phanty 2 are discussed. He holds a personal grudge against another actor when his ire should be directed at Don or, at a push, Universal. Hating on another actor, unrelated in anyway to him, for taking on his role in a sequel just sows the measure of the guy.

  • @PureAgainBOF3 Phanty 1 - low udget but disturbing, gothic and foreboding. Same goes for P2 - the deserted towns, the creepy embalmers, the gravers etc - and the balls!!!!

It followed on from Phanty 100% and kept the same tone and feel.

P3 retconned, retardedly killed Liz off (in a retarded way, too) and tured the gothic horror into Home Alone meets the campy Army of Darkness P4 retconned even more - like George Lucas - and killed the mystery and cool of the spheres.

  • @PureAgainBOF3 P4 is a real let down. It's a case of "we've $17.89, a car, my gran's house and hey, the desert is easy to shoot in - let's go!"

P2 is not "Universal's movie\2 either. Like all studio movies there's compromise but they greenlit P2 on the back of Phanty's success. You don't shoot your golden goose. Don was happy with P2 (bar losing M Baldwin just as Carpenter was happy with the big budget of The Thing. It's easy to moan in retrospect after a flop.

  • @PureAgainBOF3 PreAngel, you are 100% right. No amount of retconnig from fanboys can change that. Don messed up with the comedy in P3 (as well as the little kid) and he seriously fucked up the spheres by giving them eyes and brains (gah!).

Part 4 is the worst. You have to cut your cloth but Don should have admitted he can't do the franchise justice with his limited resources and should've held off instead of shooting 50% inside a car and 20% in the desert just to save on cost

  • I remember seeing this trailer on Guild Home Video releases. It's my all time favourite trailer. From the dictionary style opening, to the freezing of the images, to the wonderful gothic imagery of the deserted graveyear and smoking coffin.

The opening 26 seconds are phenomenal. And then there's the ball!
