5/11/2008 'Taking Out the Trash' - What does it mean to "get saved?" Many people
(especially people in the United States) see salvation as a one time event and the
result of "believing" certain things about God. While belief is important,
salvation encompasses much more than that. The salvation that God offers is a
continual personal transformation where the trash of our old lives is replaced by
the beauty of God's Kingdom. [Focus Scripture: Luke 12:1-5]

@pkart7 Hi and thanks for your comment. Sure, faith in Christ should be expressed in good works, miracles, two way interaction with God... a relationship. Contrast that with the idea of doing good works to gain God's approval, or to use another illustration, being religious is like the drowning person swimming after the lifeboat. The opposite is true. God is racing toward us to rescue us. Trying hard is a wonderful sentiment, but isn't what God offers mankind through Jesus.

@food4greymatter Indeed, but a major component to his message is that its not enough to just be "saved", one must do righteous, good things with conviction, not just to go to heaven. Watch some more of him, in another video he picks apart all the bad things organized religion does, and all the good that the following of Christ does. Interesting thinker, not afraid to question, I admire that even though I'm not a religious person (though I try my hardest to follow Christ's example)

Great message. It makes sense and rings true. We're saved from our sin, therefore saved from Hell. SIn as trash. Good illustration.
