Acer Aspire 6920G running Windows 7 Ultimate after I ran KillDisk and got rid of Windows Vista and all the bloat ware that shipped with it from Acer.
This excellent laptop works a charm now with no more lag!.
Windows 7 Ultimate is well worth the money, it's a great OS!.

I only installed the needed drivers for RealTek HD Audio Manager, Launch Manager, NVidia Video, Bluetooth, Acer Bio protect, Synaptics pointing device, Modem, Lan, IR reader and MMC/SD/SDHC Card reader.
That's all you need. Forget the rest of the rubbish. Acer Disk backup is an option though, But there is better software out there.

I get about 1 more hour of battery life with Windows 7 Ultimate in the power saver profile and that's without the need for Acer Power Management which only kills the real power of the CPU anyway and causes it to hang slow.

Cyberlink Power DVD 10 is best for watching the Blu-Rays.

Recorded Video in Full HD 1920x1080 with a Speed HD-120Z.
Had to edit it with Cyberlink PowerDirector due to showing my Win7 product id number. (Never show that on here your Win7 will get shut off)
Then I encoded the edited file from AVCHD video to DixX HD.
So the frames dropped from 30 to 25 and probably some quality loss, but no big deal it's only a YouTube video!.

  • umm my touch screen thing (volume) does NOT correspond with the laptops volume? fix for that? also i can you send me the download files for the drivers?

  • @kaviar14 The drivers are always updated via the Dell website, just go to dell site and select the type of pc. Once you get through all the menus, you will be presented with all drivers for the Acer Aspire 6920G.

  • @kaviar14 OOps, not Dell, Acer website!

  • You probably have but just incase you dont make sure you get "THROTTLESTOP" .search in google for "acer 6920g throttlestop" and look for "The Acer ThrottleStop Thread" in the google search results .The acer 6920g suffers extremly from overheating, thnx to acer setting the heat trigger point laughably low and makes your cpu downclock ,making playing games a nightmare or encoding videos stuff like that.Throttlestop fixes that without throttlestop the acer 6920g is shite and runs crap.

  • @gnostical I will test upstairs in the cooler rooms later and see what results I get but thanks a lot for sharing!. I will definitely be using it now :) I did notice on encoding my videos it can take a long time and I'd expect it to be much faster. So will try encoding later tonight. As for 64bit OS, I will leave it for now. I'd rather have more than 4GB of RAM if I was running it. 32bit is fine for me on this laptop.

  • Take few videos indoor and outdoor with Speed HD-120Z!

  • @ekzotica I have uploaded a few. I filmed a Police helicopter today look for that video. Just uploaded it, so give it a few hours to process to 1920x1080 HD :)

  • is this computer good in battlefield 3?

  • @JasonDolan lol yea i erm... finished it like a LONG time ago... figured out i didn't use the acer website though... but thats :)

  • @JasonDolan i had a problem with acer 6920g overheating and solved the problem. this is not voltage problem. it is radiator filled with dust. there is no air flow from fan to radiator because of dust. you have to take of the fan and after that take off heat pipe which is connected to radiator. for me it was full of dust. also you should change thermal paste on cpu/gpu (for me there was no thermal paste on those at all). after this maintenance the temperature of cpu dropped by 40C and gpu by 50C

  • So, I have a problem and im not sure if it's Windows 7 fault. Nonetheless, any help would be welcome. So, the problem is: my processor grade in the windows experience index went down to 3,4. Any tips?

  • hey guys i need to ask you

  • I'm running windows 7 now on my 6920G for 5 months and I'm still satisfied. I'm using throttlestop and have no problems with games like bfbc2 etc. cinedash, tuba, all working
