Police just cleared the protest camp on the Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona, firing rubber bullets at protesters and hitting indiscriminately (videos here!).

Information is still sketchy (if you're in Barcelona, please give us an update!) but it appears that riot police have just cleared the peaceful protest camp at Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona with force.

At least 43 are reported to have been treated for injuries, although actual numbers are likely to be higher.

Police in Barcelona used violence Friday to force protesters from a camp in the city's Plaza Catalunya before Saturday's Champions League final.

Demonstrators were expressing concerns about austerity measures, joblessness, and corruption within government and corporations.

  • @TheSuperS0ldier I guess you have no idea what these austerity measures will mean for your/their future life, and the generations to come. This won't only hit the people of Greece, but the Danish people too.

  • @enslavetherich Yeah. The austerity measures mean the government won't go bankrupt, bring down the economy and plunge the country into chaos. Want to change things? Vote different or stand for election. That's the essence of democracy.

  • @mellowman1001 Who has been blowing up the Spanish housing market? Why is it that many young Spanish people couldn't afford a house any more? Austerity or raising taxes is needed to keep the government financially sound, you are right. What about those politicians? Do they accept lower payments now? Or are they going to make the poor people pay for it? And about voting, I vote ANY time I can..

  • police shouldnt beat this people...they should shoot them

  • @xshowda Heuhmm.. Lol? Should this be a form of sarcasm? Or do you actually mean it? Why should the police use such an amount of violence? Because of the "Champions" League final?

  • I do not understand why no right to protest

  • the globalist must be like "do cattle have any say on what their future will be?" after all they gaves us so much and will ended all with a tyranical world that you will be less than an animal. its bad in europe but let me tell you something people don't talk much but everyone knows that something will have to happen here in america. everyone is waching as to which state will eventually say no more, then get ready for hell to break loose

  • Peaceful my ass...

  • Block the street is not peaceful, kidnap thousand drivers in the street is not paceful, throwing bottles at police is not peaceful, cutting wheels of a garbage truck is not peaceful, the indignados are not paceful.

  • @enslavetherich blems here in catalonia, but no, we have to be solidary with the southern autonomous comunities which spend their money in airports with no flights, trains with no passengers, and with southern spanish kids getting their computers freely while we have to make cuts of 10% in health and education ( if you don't know catalonia is an autonomous region which already functions like a country because it has its own government, police ( the one here in the video) parliament.....

  • @enslavetherich or bankers :D you have all the fucking things payed by the state and you protest by........what? take a stand, demand a popular initiative to be presented to the parliament ( thing that can be done here in catalonia but not in spain), and lastly, what casuality that all the protests here go against the catalan governement which has to charge with peole in catalonia that not wants the money that madrid rob us everyday back to catalonia , with that money we will solutionate all pro

  • @enslavetherich get a middle point, this people can protest, but most of them are youths who have all payed by the state, school, education, etc, etc, and which they continue to be payed by the state, they can protest, what they can notmake is occupy squares , cut streets, which makes the normal people who keep the country running and who earns they lifes honestly to can not work or get to their homes. The problem is that you think that all people which not things like you are rich, politicians

  • Blocking streets, burning trash bins, calling the police "murderers" and spray painting everything is NOT peaceful, never will be.

They can pretend to be anything they wish, but peaceful, they are not, provoking the police and creating havoc for fun, basically. Add a political sign and suddenly they are "fighting for rights" when in reality they are just creating trouble and destroying property and disrupting the normal life of fellow citizens.

  • These police don't get disciplined.
