From 1955 Don Charles Singing Dogs(Those Barking Dogs).
Pat-a-cake Pat-a-cake, Three Blind Mice, Jingle Bells, Oh Susanna & Rock around the dogs.
From the two alsatians Caesar & King The Two Chihuahuas Pearl & Pussy & Dolly the Poodle.
There are two versions of (Oh Susanna), the first is how the dogs performed it live on stage and the second is an edited version for commercial purposes ie: records, directed by Carl Weismann.
A lot of people believe that the dogs where all Carl Weismann's idea, but the dogs really did exist and they all had names, and they performed all the songs you hear on this record live on stage being a little slower than the recordings.
The only exceptions was (Rock Around The Dogs)&(Barking Dogs Boogie)or (Hot Dog Boogie) which is the same tune, the latter could be a copy, both these tunes are made up using the different barking tones of the dogs, thanks to Carl Weismann.
This EP Sleeve was the only one produced and is highly sort after, as it is the only one that carries the pictures of the singing dogs themselves.
I remember watching them on Sunday Night at the London Paladium on the BBC TV many years ago, and they all sat on a stool conducted by Don Charles, the dogs barked(Three Blind Mice) & (Oh Susanna), they are all still singing in dog heaven right now.

  • I have this record on a 78 since I was a little kid in the 50's and have nothing to play a 78 on,

Good to hear this timeless classic again. Thank You,

  • @JAMES500BURNT. You know a record with a 78 setting are pretty easey to come by and relatively cheap so you don;t have to miss out, I'm glad it brought back some memories. Thanks for viewing.

  • You know as long as these singing dogs have been around I am surprised no one had ever decided to make say a Disney movie based on it..

I myself already have come up with a strong story line...

I always come up with great story ideas but never know what to do to get them out there..
