So inspirational! It's a shame Mike was so shy in his early days, as such creative people so often are! What a guy!

I love this. Tubular Bells: No one wanted it!
Helps to have Branson at the office desk. :)
I would love to make my own album on tape in an old cottage in the countryside.
Very inspiring. Long live Tape Echo.

Just watched this after spending a weekend at The Beacon, where this documantary was filmed and is now available as a holiday let. You can still see the marks on the walls where Mike once hung his model planes. Our bedroom was once part of the recording studio you can see in this film. Magical stuff !

@ncd1986 Nope, a cigarette. He rolls his own, using Rizla papers. And he writes many of his musical 'thoughts' on the Rizla covers...

this is from tony Palmer's very 70's music doc 'All you need is Love'

Still the best thing Richard Branson did, and although he would have found success one way or another, Branson made a good move backing Oldfield. In Kevin Ayers band Oldfield was bass player and occasional guitarist - imagine a band these days having a guitarist like Oldfield who wasn't used full time! The term genius is too-often used, but Oldfield certainly merits the description; his music persists and he pisses all over the so called 'musicians' of today.
