Why the Moon Hoax makes no sense : Part 9

Part 9 of 9 of 'Why the Moon Hoax makes no sense' presented by Peter Barrett of the Canberra Skeptics on Friday, 13 April 2007 at the Visions Theatre, National Museum of Australia, Acton Peninsula.

There are people who believe that NASA faked the Moon Landings on a sound stage in Area 51, or Sudbury in Canada, or somewhere in Australia - and many people find Moon Hoax arguments superficially convincing.

But the logic which is used to support Moon Hoax arguments very quickly becomes self-contradictory. In fact, it requires NASA to be simultaneously brilliant and stupid. And although Moon Hoax supporters muster what appears to be strong technical evidence in support of their arguments, these arguments are surprisingly easy to demolish.

In this talk, Peter will examine a range of Moon Hoax arguments, explain why they make no sense, and discuss why the Moon Hoax matters. (Don't worry, no technical knowledge is required !)

@spacehopperballs - because the main purpose of the Apollo missions was to beat the USSR. We know what the moon is made up of & whats there - nothing of value. The only reason to go back would be to establish a moon base to use as a launch pad to Mars. However all this costs money & with limited funding they spend it on projects with the biggest scientific returns.

Or 30 something earth diameters away and back 40 years ago without a scratch yet now they only piss about in the shuttle a couple of hundred miles up with 14 killed up to now?

No the reason we haven't been back is because landing men on the moon is getting harder and harder instead of easier and easier - Its so much more of a big deal now 40 years later - Why ?

Because we know a lot more than we did all those years ago

and we know that its at the limit of our capabilities now in 2010

which puts it neatly in context....
