49 people were this morning arrested and charged at the Nairobi traffic court for boarding matatus from non designated areas. Passengers most of them going to work had their plans cut short after they were found to have flouted traffic rules . Nairobi area traffic commandant Patrick Lumumba says the operation is still going on and has warned passengers against flagging down matatus from anywhere.

Good job for passing the buck to the public. All are in the wrong, just as a prostitute and a curb crawler.

Oh my, do they have to make the poor ladies scramble up the truck like soldiers? I'd have liked to see how they get off the truck.....

It's about time, Kenyans are quick to blame everybody else but themselves.

Good start but they need to blame the driver more for braking his matatu. But all those drivers who create an extra lane during traffic jams on the grass, tress and sidewalks should be arrested and charged. Especially Langata Road, Mbagathi way, Mombasa Road, etc

Good observation - This is matatu DRIVER'S and crew's problem and should never be a passenger problem. The police will try and extort bribes from these poor people. This issue needs to be addressed ASAP.

Consumer Organizations should come out and petition GoK and local authorities to build and maintain decent Bus Shelters! Like wild animals the cops go for the least resistance part of the society! Ever watched the Kruger Lion Hunt? Classic cop behaviour!
