Every time I watch this scene, it makes me laugh when he trills his Rs in Lawrence. Richard Burton was amazing in this film. Actually, this whole film was absolutely stellar. It is truly one of my faves.

This is one of my all time favorite films. Burton is sublime as Shannon. To anyone who has ever felt ground down by the mendacity and mediocrity around him, Williams, through, Shannon and brought to glorious life by Burton, gives solace. The opening scence with Shannon in the pulpit is...fan-tastic.
