Learn how the MT90U Music Player helps you practice your piano lessons (or any music lessons for that matter) using Interactive MIDI files which make piano practice more musical. The MT-90U Music Player features two USB ports: One to connect to a computer, the other to plug in a flash drive, memory drive, thumb drive, cd-rom drive, or a floppy drive. The MT90U can also play .wav and .mp3 files and slow them down or transpose them to a different key. Learn more from www.capmusic.com or call 512-458-1933. This program is like Suzuki; it over exploits muscle memory and habits of playing by ear. It won't promote music.reading.
Poorly done!

Part 1: Wow...that's a major misconception. We've had students with good ears that didn't learn to read and the Music Tutor actually helped them learn to READ music. If you look at the printed music while listening, that's a basic foundational building block for learning to read.

Part 2: If you only listen & hunt & peck out the melody...then heck no...you won't learn to read. The Music Tutor works with ANY piano method, Alfred, John Thompson, Piano Adventures, Suzuki, etc. The Music Tutor itself is not a method of learning to play the piano. It is a tool. If listening and watching what you hear would inhibit note reading, then it would also inhibit kids from learning to read words when parents read them a book. That's just ignorance to believe that would be true.

Part 3: We've had a music school for 21 years here in Austin. For the first 6 years, we could never get past 150 piano students because the drop out rate of piano is high. Once we started requiring everyone to use the Roland Music Tutor our school has grown to over 400 students because this Tutor ACTUALLY gets kids playing the piano! Isn't that what it's all about??
