I am using a 50s (reissue) classic player Tele here going via a Line 6 Toneport into my PC. the backing is programmed into Band in a Box.

Yes, you can use the harmonic minor of C here.
This demo was only one possibility, and I found it hard to stay within the constraint of the scales set out.
I would say learn the scales so you get good at the fingerings and are able to recognise the sounds. Then you can almost forget about them and learn to play melodically. Thanks for all the comments.
