This is what Morris was born for. <3 He really shouldn't force roles like Claggart anymore, especially not at his age.

@oabkzn I am glad it is retired also..it premired in the late 80s! This was very state of the art then and just like La Boheme and DerRosenkaviler (ones just mentioned are still playing) they hung around because the people loved them! But I was very vocal when all the naysayers were blasting a new ring at the met before it ever saw a first performance. I think this new met ring is amazing and tells the story the way Wagner wanted it done but using 21 centuary technology!

the stage setting is so great!

@rumpwrestler One of those Disney Rings from the MET? Disney Ring? Are you serious?

This was an outstanding production when it was unveiled in the 80s!! You dont hear much applause at first the clip is cut,, I own the Laserdisc versions of this Ring it is monumental! But I am glad that the MET has moved on..its new Ring will be complete this season 2011/12 and it to will become classic!

@akpodcast I've just followed it with the score and it does no such thing.
-
@akpodcast it's not italian opera. the applause doesn't last for 15 minutes with 15 different curtain calls.
-
@akpodcast Curious what you were listening to.... Heard no problem with the orchestra at all. This must be one of those Disney RINGS from the MET.... so glad that production is a thing of the past.
