The guy that he wrote this song about was Joey's best friend.
He was the original singer in the band back when they pretty much only played Metal.
He ran off with Joey's girlfriend (Her name's Emily and she shows up in some other songs as well)
So their friendship dissolved, the guys in the band sided with Joey and he became the singer.
Joey writes about this situation often.
