  • thumbs up if Sir Thomas Allen made your freshman year as a vocal performance major much easier =)

  • AEPK, I couldn't disagree more - to me his singing goes straight to the heart of the poetry. Noble, with a full range of colour , dynamic, the whole package.have heard him sing these live, and it was a highlight of my concert-going life. Each to his own, of course...:-)

  • esamy and lucyliesinashes.you are both quite right. I listened again and cannot think what made me make that comment. I must have been in a bad mood. Sorry.

  • @aepk1 I disagree. I think he's an incredible actor, even on recording, and especially in art song. I think what you're actually hearing is Rattle's weird tempos pushing him.

  • oh, this was so touching

  • Sir Thomas' voice is rich and melodious. What a pity he isn't more expressive. He has the means and the skills but somehow he sings almost mechanically. After all, this is poetry.
