Intro:
As my math teacher rambled on about something that was probably essential to my knowledge, my eyes continuously drifted outside of the classroom window. I felt a light prick at my left shoulder and ignored it the first time, but when the sensation crept over me again, I whipped my head around and spotted a doe-eyed boy holding a pencil, led end facing me.
"Can you please stop it, Nicholas?"
He innocently looked around and batted his eyelashes, "Huh?"
Exhaling powerfully, I rolled my eyes and turned back around, attempting to continue learning. A few moments later, I felt a tug at my hair and nearly imploded.
"Will you stop it already?!"
Chap. 1 -
Six years later, I found myself sitting in a Global History classroom along with a few others as we awaited the chiming of the bell. I looked up at the clock and by the time my eyes returned to eye level, they caught a glimpse of a curly haired boy clad in leopard print skinny jeans and a Rolling Stones vintage tee. I hadnt favored his choice of outfit as much as I did his suddenly appealing appearance.
I coughed up a laugh and rotated my body as he sat down, so that I was facing him. " 'S that the best you can do?"
He shrugged my comment on his outfit off and said, "Whatever, you know I look good," donning a confident smile.
As I swung around to face the front of the room, I sharply retorted "Not so much the outfit."
The teacher walked in the room, and although I hadn't found her particularly attractive, I was certain ninety-five percent of the boys in the room did because of their slack-jawed expressions.
Half-way into the period, I felt a nuisancing sensation, and decided to address it.
"Can you stop it?!" I strongly whispered as I felt a light breeze on the back of my neck and realized that it was Nicholas' breathing.
"What am I doing?" He squinted his eyes and leaned forward so that he wouldnt get repremanded for speaking.
"You're breathing! Stop breathing!"
"Whatever. You're a psycho." He leaned back and continued writing notes, I assumed to impress the teacher.
"Does anyone know?" The teacher grabbed my attention and my hand shot up.
"Nicholas does!"
"You don't?"
I shook my head 'no', and her eyes gravitated toward him. "1492?"
She pouted, "That would've been nice if I asked when America was discovered. But the question was if anyone knew what time the period ended."
His face became extremely red and in the deepest area of my heart, I knew that I was wrong for what I had done.
After class, the teacher, who requested that she be called Jen, asked to speak to Nicholas. I wanted to apologize for starting the year off so rudely, so I waited for him to come outside of the classroom.
"What was that about?" I inquired as I strolled down the hallway beside him, risking a late arrival to my next class.
"Why do you care?"
"No reason. Just was hoping you didnt get in trouble. Look, I wanted to say sor---"
He cut me off, "Well I did get in trouble," and sped up his pace to a rapid walk, then disappeared into a crowd of teens. Great.
Feedback, yo? It gets better, but this was kind of a filler chapter to get it started.
