Artomatic 2008 was a big month-long artist event that was held in Washington, DC from May 9-June 15, 2008. Over 1,000 artists and performers participated in this mega-event. This clip focuses on two of the exhibits. Both of them were interactive and I felt that presenting them on video would do them greater justice than just taking still photographs or writing in detail about them.

The first one is a glass sculpture by Tim Tate called "Call to Redemption". The sculpture was rigged with electronic wires, a camera, a LCD monitor, and an audio speaker. When the visitor approached the sculpture, not only would the person's face appear on the LCD but it would also activate a sound recording of an iman calling for prayer in an Islamic mosque. Tim Tate had the sculpture for sale for $8,000. You can learn more about him and his art at:

The second one is a giant installation called "Mock TV" where if you walk inbetween a small stage and a TV set, you'll see your image beamed in the TV set as the set plays clips from old TV shows (such as "Gilligan's Island"). You can learn more about the artist, Philip Kohn at:
