I did that few times and it was a pleasure. Only to note it is good to change main bearings if doing only a basic rebuild.

When I'd built the engine 40k miles previous, I'd used a very old cam and tappets. Just before this rebuild I was starting to notice a slight rattle so pulled the engine and found the tappets to have worn flat. This time I fitted a new cam, tappets, timing gear, all bearings and oil
pump. The pistons/barrels, crank and heads were still good so got re-used. Should be good for another 50k miles now.

thanks alot, but i just bought the engine alone, its a 1200cc from 1964 and the drive pulley has no nut on it...(they were made like that..)
