Our Father, Hail Mary from thy bounty thru Christ our Lord amen

Nakita kita kahapon, may hila-hilang kariton

Yano is a Filipino band of Alternative rock, Folk, Punk rock and Pinoy rock. It was formerly a band with several members. However, the band disbanded and was revived by the only remaining original member as a one-man band.

Yano originated in Manila, Philippines. It was formed on 1993 and the original line-up was composed of Dong Abay on vocals and Eric Gancio on guitars. Together with Larry Mapolon, they met in Patatag, a vocal ensemble and decided to form NG, a Filipino band with other artists.

They named the band "Yano" after Dong Abay read the Talahulugang Pilipino and encountered Yano which means simple in Tagalog. Onie Badiang jumped in as the band's bassist and Nowie Favil on drums. However, Nowie left the group due to his commitments with the other band, Ang Grupong Pendong. Other drummers for the band include Nonong Timbalez, Jun Nogoy and Harley Alarcon.

At the home studio of Joey Abala, an alternative artist, they recorded their demo. Kumusta Ka?, one of the demo's tracks is a song about EDSA Revolution and instantly heard in many local radio stations. This brough the band Yano on different gigs and performed in club circuits as Mayrics, Club Dredd and 70s Bistro.

On 1994, they recorded their first ever full-length album. The album carried the name of the band as its title, Yano and was released under Alpha Records. The album spawned several hit tracks as "Banal Na Aso", "Santong Kabay", "Tsinelas", and "Esem". Following its release were numerous well-done concerts nationwide.

It was re-released by BMG and reached the quadruple platinum status in 1994. They have recorded two more studio albums namely: Banal on 1996 and Tara on 1997. Both were released under BMG Records.

After releasing these three studio albums Dong Abay stopped and left the band due to fame-induced pressure. Later after Abay left the group, Yano disbanded.

Abay was struggling with depression for five years and after the latter's recovery, he formed a band named Pan and released their debut album entitled Pamaso Ng Payaso on 2003. However, Pan suffered the same fate when Abay decided to pursue school in U.P. Diliman. Currently, he is pursuing a career as an independent artist.

A compilation album entitled Best of Yano was released under BMG Records on 2001.

Gancio on the other hand, returned to his beloved Davao after Abay's extinction. On 2004, he recorded and released an EP for his Sa Bandang Huli, his debut album. As an independent artist, he did all the instruments and mixed music in a PC-based software.

Gancio revived the long-been-quiet Yano. Now, Yano is a one-man band and currently performed in Davao though with two other sessionists musicians. Accordingly, he will be releasing an album, not as his second but the fourth album for the band, Yano.
