    Exactly.......when art is an experience, not being air-brushed and sterilized. I happen to like Carol Channing's singing......but I guess I am partial because I love sprechstimme.....tell me anyone who could do concerts like Marlene Dietrich's of Carol Channing today.

    I love Barbra...however, Dolly really is Carol's. Carol is fantastic. It's her role for sure. As for Gentlement Prefer Blondes...I think Marilyn, not Carol.

    I prefer Barbra Streisand as Dolly, Barbra sings way better, and made Dolly more realistic.

    Although a lot of less than flattering comments are being made on here, what remains true is the fact that she managed to sell out theatres across the world for thirty years giving this performance.
