So are you letting him close the space back up by lifting his hips and then working on breaking the closed guard? or do you keep the space from the original knee in the middle the whole time and not let him move his hips back in?
You don't LET him lift his hips up, in an ideal world he won't and you'll open it up and pass. But IF he does lift his hips up, you use this method.
