In this routine from Greenwich Village (Serenata Boêmia) 1944, Carmen takes the opportunity to include in an American movie two of her favorite Brazilian songs she had recorded in Brazil which she wanted so much to do -- "O Que É Que A Baiana Tem" (What Has The Baiana Gotten), by Dorival Caymmi, and "Quando Eu Penso Na Bahia" (When I Think Of Bahia) by Ary Barroso.

  • No one has realized yet that Carmen Miranda was an extra terrestrial. Actually, she could levitate. Well, you were just born yesterday and deserves a discount. But as for the others... How come they never thought of that? Anyway, all the truth will eventually come out as a big surprise to all. Wow! Best wishes from Brazil!

  • How does she dance in those heels?

  • coisa feia ela desse jeito!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nursenin, me too! But I think she did it by purpose. Probably her intention was to make the word "bandana" (which means a kind of headband) sound like "banana" (not exactly the fruit! Ha Ha). She used to do lots of these double-meaning jokes. It was very like her, and very like the 30s and 40s' artists, to play tricks on the Censorship. They HAD to be very intelligent, or they would get arrested!!!

  • How beautiful she looks in this video! This dress really goes with her hair and skin!

  • The black and pink costume was inspired by Schiaparelli (as in "shocking pink"). I find it amazing that such a tiny woman was not overwhelmed by such a heavy gown, tall head piece, and platform shoes. She could carry anything and make it work for her.
