My name is Jeff Simmermon and I was very suddenly diagnosed with testicular cancer in the spring of 2009 - although I got off without chemo and radiation, the post-cancer depression and PTSD were horrible. I felt so lonely, and people came up to me to say incredibly well-meaning but stupid and depressing things.
Then I saw something that inspired me and gave me hope while waiting to get a PET/CT scan, and for a moment, that depression dissolved.
This is a video of a story that I told at The Moth GrandSLAM in March, 2014 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. I managed to win that particular GrandSLAM, and I don't mind telling you that I'm pretty proud of the accomplishment.
