  • just how cheap was the ammo and who made it?

  • @levaslevas

There plenty of Russian surplus 5.45 floating around for about 12 cents a round, the primer is corrosive so you have to do the windex clean real good on them when done....good blasting ammo.

Windex me no likey, try Diesel.

Its cheap, non-corrosive and its been used for cleaning and lubricating all kinds of metal for a very long time, just clean out all the residue before your next firing session or you will be in a burn ward with the song "Disco inferno" stuck in your head.

Also I wouldn't use diesel in a "direct gas impingement system" like the M16 or M4, that gas tube is too tedious and risky but piston driven and bolt action rifles are fine.

    Thanks...will try it....sure don't need a flaming boom stick in my hand...lol...JP

  • How come you can't call them AK 47 in the USA?

  • @Lillocox4

    AK 47 7.62x39

    AK-74 5.45x39

I sold all my 47's except the posties for the 5.45 versions, more accurate, more controllable and you can carry many more rounds for the same weight.

The 5.45 is one NASTY little round on soft tissue...JP in 10-E-C

  • That's hawt!

I hope you like the technique!

  • @Dosvidaniya1

That's right, I need to go to the gas station to acquire this magical fuel as we speak, and yes from the pump.

Soviet guns love diesel, last time I cleaned an sks by filling a glass fishbowl with diesel and dunked all the pieces of the bolt, trigger group and firing pin assembly in and stirred em around a little with some metal tongs and let them stew for 20 minutes.

for the barrel soak a patch and run it through, as you soak your small parts you can use a brass brush n scrub.

  • Sweet !!!!

  • Hell yea datz my ishh
