Gorbachev didn't destory the Soviet Union, he had a referendum on it and the citizens voted to get rid of it, however he wanted to keep it

@VoxPopuli666 GORBACHEV didn't destroy the soviet union because while he took a vacation he let someone at control see while gorbachev was the president of the soviet union he cant be the president of russia since the guy who was in charge knew that he agreed with all the other countries(whatever) that they will be no other soviet union then gorbachv came back being blamed at who didn't know the true story

Which in fact, if you read US history, it makes Hitler look like a saint.
Second, the "Cold War" was a political game by the US to push the Soviet Union to spend all their resources on the military, for then make the west put market blockades with Soviet to crush their economy.
