Scientology aside, as a written review, I would still like this book. It's a relaxed read because of the format Mr. Headley used, which is a plus because people that are unfamiliar with Scientology would still enjoy it. Mr. Rathbun wrote the forward, which demonstrated how experiences within Scientology can vastly differ.
The explaination of how he got into Scientology, how he was misled, and how he felt entrapped explained a great deal of why people don't leave. They simply cannot or fear the consequences thereof. Fear shouldn't be a large part of a person's religious experience.
The latter part of the book explains how Marc and Claire escaped and what brought them to the conclusion they needed to leave. Claire Headley is a clever and brave lady. The ending had a feeling of suspense, it reminded me of Dean Koontz!
Also, there were some stories about Danny Dunagin, the infamous Gold Security Booth guy that attacked AnonOrange. The stories are sad, funny, and creepy.
As an added bonus, the back of the book explains a great deal of the acronyms used in Scientology.

And to Mr. Headley, you have a natual talent for writing, so I would say write more!! :D

  • well can you tell me what the book is about!? i need to read a book for school and i dont want to ! so tell me what this book is about!

  • @almir185 it's about a guy who joined Scientology with his mother, what it was like joining, and how difficult it was to leave. He talked about meeting his wife, working obnoxious hours, and this guy named Danny who is a putzy secuirity guard. It's a very quick read, it took me a few days to get through it.

  • I'm up to page 123 and so far I am loving it. As you say, his writing style is very easy to read and I'm pretty sure that when I pass it on to others who don't have the understanding of the cult as we do, they will be able to follow the story and be as entertained and shocked as I am reading it.

Have you got Nancy Many's book "My Billion Year Contract"? I'll be reading that one straight after "Blown for Good".

  • Dean Koontz rocks. I've never been disappointed by any of his books.

  • abiogenesis has been proven possible i dont know much about both though evolution is a fact creationist bash me all the time for beleiving

  • to the best of my knowledge, the books that came out in 2009 were by Nancy Many and Marc Headley. If Rinder wrote a book it's news to me!

You know, you should never worry when a person makes a lot of noise. When a person is quiet, it usually means they are up to something (for better or worse).

  • big bang, yeah it probably happened. As far as biogenesis is concerned, haven't studied it enough to give an opinion. : )

  • I didn't know he had a book out?..What's the title and where can one buy it...?

I thought M.Rinder was still hidding under the rock he crawled under since leaving this cult....lol

I can't believe that man hasn't made more public attacks againts this cult...Could it be that he has great deal of blood on his hands??...

  • just wondering what do u think about the bigbang and abiogenesis

  • yes I do. I'm not a creationist.

  • do u beleive evolution is true im asking all on the comments and the video maker
