A fantastic lecture by Christopher Hitchens about how atheism (and anti-theism) is not only a healthy belief system but a moral necessity. He talks about the very earthly nature of religion, the dangerous effect it is having on our world and the need for people to think for themselves.

Have a drink and get comfortable because Hitchens is going to explain it all to you just brilliantly!

You are clearly quoting from a reputable and infallible source, because the extended version of your quote from Issiah 51 says:

"Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab (a sea monster), and wounded the dragon?"

    Your sanctimonious bullshit sickens me.

  • Hitchens you will be missed.

  • thanks for this... cant believe he's gone...

  • Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My (God's) law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment, And the worm will eat them like wool; But My righteousness will be forever, And My salvation from generation to generation. Isaiah 51

  • Thanks for everything, Hitch, we will miss you. RIP.

  • @Onieracraft Actually it doesn't.

  • @BigFatHeretic It was just a quote from Einstein. Personally I would have made much more about the evolution of morals. Obviously morals evolve, remember when SUVs were just good fun? A society of anarchy without mutual trust and common standards will crumble in competition with one where mutual security can be assumed. Natural selection will do the rest. Morals evolve, that's why we have a legislature.
