This video is a compilation of scenes from several videos I recorded in the McNeil Avian Center during the past two months.
On late fall and winter weekdays, especially, there are times when I am the only visitor in an area. It's not that I don't like other people. But it is sort of special to be alone with the animals and have them act like I am just one of them.
I must say, though, the birds in the McNeil Avian Center come out an walk on the walkway like this at all times, even when the Zoo is crowded. They are very relaxed and seem to enjoy having people around.
the other one is a guan (piping i think).. they are exact the same curassow family.. they got a different name (guan).. funny thing is that i never saw this curassow,or guan on film, only pictures... so you did it again,merry...SWEET!! philly zoo must be great!!!

Yes, the Philadelphia Zoo is definitely great!
The piping guan is also known as an aburria. It and the curassow are two of my special favorites in the McNeil Avian Center.

Thank you!
There actually is only one curassow in the McNeil Avian Center. And that is probably good because she acts like she is in charge.
One of the keepers calls her "Gertrude" which I think is the absolute best name for her, although I'm not sure why I think that.
