  • rubbish. Timeouts work very well for every preschooler I know. They need time to compose themselves.

  • Alright, I should correct myself. Apology for earlier. Timeout does not work on some children, especially autistic. However, it works for many. I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water. Give it a try first.

  • I'm interested in the visceral response to a gentle teaching rather than "discipline". It sounds like you want discipline to be strict, firm and perhaps more like punishment. Why is that, Roliver31483? If something gentler, yet consistent and true works....why not prefer it?

    Time Outs will work (with some kids), but they are what I consider the "Matilda Approach": I'm big - you're little; I'm right - you're wrong; I'm good - you're bad. Time Outs can be overdone, abused & just plain mean.

  • im so sick of this modern day "dr spock" like bs!!! everybody is just getting further and further away from discipline!!
