  • The best way to get the so called regular life in order, and to have health social interactions, is to put oneself out there. I used to have more problems during teen years, when it comes to slight fits of antisocial behavior (I averted and feared putting myself out 'there'), while I was quite good with daoist meditation practices. I could go on and on about what I did then.

  • That is to say, I have managed to combine several practices. I just came from a martial arts class. To call me antisocial would be a stretch. My emotions are maturing by the minute because of my positive but aware attitude. I got my awareness from meditative practicing over the last 4 years. I have been doing an integral life practice for the past 1 year, and I met with parts of myself I didn't like, yet transmutations were many. I am by no means perfect. But I am getting better.

  • I know that fact first hand.

Meditation must be combined with an arrays of practices to come up with a kind of integral life practice. Body, mind and spirit in self, culture and nature must be cultivated. There is no more conflict for me between meditative states and communication, because I do more alchemical stuff too, such as shadow work (disclaimed aspects of self, that are projected onto other people that are negative, positive or neutral in character are integrated and or transmuted).

  • I wouldn't say I have sustained attention yet tho there are specific points where silence is like a mountain and thoughts are like trickling streams, bubbling up and fading.

  • Just started this myself. Though I've been using Dzogchen and Zen on and off throughout college.

  • What is significant to take a look here for a moment is the following fact

All these Meditation Techniques are «Synthetic», which have as side-effect, that you loose your Balance to evolve harmoniously all your Body Functions.

This is why these are not useful for everybody.

They can be suitable for some People

But even still then, there will be certain Difficulties, which are met at the higher Stages. These Difficulties concern regular Life and social interactions and emotional Life.

  • I don't believe, I got ever very far with this. I did Zen Meditation, when I was young. ( Switching to Vegetarianism and a special Kefir Diet as well )

I was able to unlock some unusual mental Powers with this temporarily.

  • BTW my monkey mind is very calm now. I can be at stage 9 in an hour.

  • How about you, allymetoo? l have penetrated to the very final stage but only for a minute, though it seemed longer and shorter than that. I was sublimely present, and describing is not worth it. So, what level have you achieved with this yourself? That stage moderl, while reasonably accurate, is not emplyed by all buddhists. Chan buddhitst (zen) don't use stage concepts very muh, besides the ox herding pictures. I meditate every day, twice.

  • I can achieve that state in about 5 minutes. About 4 years ago it took me an hour as well. I.
