@MissFunkyMonkey99 Don't have to mention Cobain. I mean he was a cool singer and a great songwriter but as a singer he wasn't close to Layne. So let's focus on Layne when we're in here. Or the other members of AIC... cause this band is so unique and like no other it shouldn't be labeled as another grunge band who is in the shadows of Nirvana.

Just drop that crap with Cobain in general, he was no mastermind, he did not have that great of voice. I don't view Nirvana as the top dog in grunge, grunge was never 1. supposed to be about ratings and rank 2. a genre. 90's music was and is still great thanks to the internet.

@csmzcs you cant not mention cobain when this sort of music is being discussed. nirvana and alice in chains are very arguably the two best grunge bands EVER.

most powerful voice goes to staley's alice in chains,

most successful band goes to cobain's nirvana

in other words they both are amazing in their own way. personally though i think nirvana beats alice in chains overall, but to each their own! ;D

@csmzcs Smashing Pumpkins were really unique too, they brought psychedelic and gothic sensibility to the 1990s alternative / grunge scene. Even if you don't like their later work Gish, Siamese Dream, Pisces Iscariot, Mellon Collie, and The Airplane Flies High were magnificent.
