Inge Borkh and Mario del Monaco sing " Straniero, ascolta" from Turandot by Giacomo Puccini Orchestra e coro dell`Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Roma ALBERTO EREDE, conductor recorded: Roma July 1955
My gosh: I wish that Mr. Bing could have convinced her and Nilsson to co-exist in the title role at the Met in the 1960s. She would have been phenomenal (really, the first plausible alternative to Nilsson in the role at the Met during that time was Marion Lippert, who was only there in 1968-1969). Thank you for sharing this gem with us. GREAT performances by both Borkh and del Monaco here, very well-conducted by Erede. (Too bad the acoustical ambience is over-reverberant, though.....)

Danke fürs posten - diese Aufnahme kannte ich noch nicht, herrlich, diese Szene mit gesunden Stimmen und so unverstelltem Zugriff zu hören.

Thanks once again, addi, for showing what a semi-forgotten soprano ... Borkh ... could accomplish, with an excellent tenor from the post-War years.
