This is so beautiful. I love Dottie Jones!! She is as beautiful as her voice. I grew up with the original Richard Smallwood Singers. I had no Idea this was on the new CD. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow for sure. Thank you for this excellent post PrazHymn83.
Love it! One of my RSS Top 3 Songs. Absolutely love the song, the photo montage, and Dottie! I remember I met her in spring of 1987, after the Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar recording, in the lobby of the Washington Plaza hotel. I asked her where was a restaurant my friends and I could go to. She said to Hoolihans (I think it was) in Georgetown. She even engaged in a lil small talk with us. Sweet Spirit!
Thank for the POst!, I grew Up in D.C. I had the pleasure of being apart of the Wesley Boyd Youth Choir many years ago, so I can remember hearing Richard Smallwood & the Smallwood Singers from the beginning I LvOE This Song!!!!! This version is THE BOMB! "wHAT A MINISTRY!
Love Miss Dottie . She was so gracious to come to the Navy Yard in the 80's and sang for the
whole “yard”, for a Black History Month Program
