I set the camera on a flatcar behind my Lionel Northern Pacific caboose, and went for a ride! As you tour the layout, you'll see items principally from Marx, Lionel, and MTH. I have one Weaver NP boxcar (in front of the caboose), and an Atlas boxcar in the train, as well.
The occasional puffs of smoke are from the MTH Union Pacific Challenger that's pulling this rather lengthy train. The passenger train running on the inside track is all Lionel.
Inside track is good ol' Lionel, Marx, and K-Line tube track. Outside track is MTH RiteTrax -- really good stuff!
The layout is 4'x16'. I painted the surface of the board with a green epoxy concrete floor paint -- I was astounded at how much more quietly the trains ran when I applied that paint! Not bad for paint i just had lying around the house... :-)
I'm a huge fan of the TRF train show -- it's 2 days long, so I don't have to tear it all apart a couple of hours after I've got it all set up, and they give away some (actually, A LOT of) really cool door prizes, to boot! In 2008, the show was held in the Huck Olson Arena on the west side of town. We only go to one or two train shows a year (the other one is in Fargo, ND), so if you get a chance, stop on by and say "hi" to me!
Enjoy the ride! And stay around for when the camera jumps off the train, and watches the action from the ground!
NICE LAYOUT!!

Thanks! I admittedly like running them more than building them, but since my kids helped me build it, that made it all worthwhile. I hope to add at least one more 4x8' length onto it this year, if I can!
