Channel Update January 18 2012

Quick update of what's going on as of 6pm AST

1. Winter camping
Cooking some stuff in the lab (outside), mostly getting ready for our winter camping weekend coming up with dragonflyhiker. We wanted to dip our toes into "hot tenting" which is what our friends in Ontario & Quebec are doing using a canvas tent & wood stove. So we are making an ammo can wood stove and will fashion painter's tarp (drop cloth) for the shelter.

2. Black IPA beer review
The next beer review coming soon should be Garrison black IPA, which was shot during the same time frame as the winter warmer.

3. Wahoo fitness video
The next video coming this sunday is from wahoo fitness. I spoke last time about more running videos and this is part of that.

4. Halifax podcamp

Going to my first halifax podcamp this weekend. Looking forward to meet a lot of the twitter folk from the area. Also looking forward to see the youtube session. The guy who is doing it didn't do a good job a few months ago. I'd rather hear something good than using the platform as a promo for his company.

Good stuff coming. I've used hand held GPS's for years doing geocaching. But now with the smartphone applications it seems kind of pointless to use the bigger device. Don't have the iPhone but they're all pretty much the same I guess.

@Imasofat yup you'd be right about that. Sure GPS accuracy isn't quite the same but if you just need a little dongle to attach to your smartphone to track running, geocaching, etc... much cheaper option i think.
